Chief Grey Bear Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Heck, I don't even know the names of all the colors. I just decide to buy some soft plastics and pick out colors that look "natural". One thing that kinda drives me nuts is that nobody seems to want to produce basic black anymore. Everything is black with various colors of flakes or deep purple instead of black...I want BLACK. Glad to see my theory of matching the bottom color being accepted by lots of people I remember many years ago, black hair bass jigs was about all you could get. Same with the Uncle Josh pork. Always black for 95% of the pork they made. Some purple I think. That was all I used in the winter. Then I discovered those that had a streak of bright yellow hair. Thought I died and went to heaven. Then sometime in the mid to late 70's, I saw, and used my first rubber jigs. Oh man I thought they was the bomb. They were always black or brown. Then they showed up with a streak of either blue, yellow, or orange. Oh man, I was in heaven! And I just loved the live action rubber. I still have some of those but, I doubt they are useable. Mitch f Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 And I just loved the live action rubber. I love the action of the live action rubber but the colors always seem to bleach out and look lighter in the water....so much so that I couldn't bear to use them anymore. Even the solid black turned to gray...weird Also very difficult to tie your own using thread over round rubber "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
joeD Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Look at all the many and varied things that bass hit. Face it, we have no idea what goes on in a fish brain. Basically, if you throw something in the water where bass live, you have a chance. The fallacy is that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. " If I just had this, then...." Just look at the fishing section at Bass Pro. But. I heard that Zoom might come out with a different hued "pearl white" fluke that is scented....
LarrySTL Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I seemed to do best with plastics this year on Zoom baits in Green Pumpkin, Green Pumpkin Red, or Watermelon Red ( which is brownish with some red flake) For solid black, in addition to Zoom, Culprit makes a lot of their worms in solid black. http://intervenehere.com

Blazerman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I always use the green pumpkin or chartreuse with specs of glitter (not sure what it is called) that Zoom has for their centipede. Great bait! In winter I always switch to deer hair jigs in black and black and orange with a black pork rind.
