exiledguide Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Power Bait and Zoom still make Black Finnese worms and I always carry them but , thinking back over the the last few years I seldom fish them going more to watermellon or pumpkin or brown. But the go to bait for me on the James river is the 3" Gulp alive Chartruse Minnow fished on a 1/32 oz jig made on a # 1Matzuo cycle hook. I can fish it as a jerk bait, swim it or drag it on the bottom. I have a problem with bone spurs on my spine so I haven't been able to fish the river much this summer and I haven't tried this in really fast water.
stlfisher Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Natural color's in shades of green and brown, white for bass assasins, black for anything at night, and a bubblegum trick worm if I want to live dangerously. Motor Oil color for 10 inch plastic worms and pond largemouth.
Gavin Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Its not bubblegum...its pink...great in clear water for some reason.
cnr Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Hmmm. I have seen my buddies have success with the pink Fluke in clear water. I'm wondering if it appears gray in the water after a few feet of depth since the red spectrum of light is absorbed by the water. Just wondering.
cwc87 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Green pumpkin. Some with black flake yammamoto. Chompers dark melon pepper. A watermelon early in the year when the trees start blooming. Can't go wrong with at pearl super fluke with a chartreuse tail. Night fishing use black or muddy water black n blue.
stlfisher Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I do remember reading somehere that shades of red can appear gray in the water. I would assume pink would follow suit to some extent. I am sticking with bubblegum though it sounds a bit more manly than pink...maybe.
Gavin Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It looks pink to me from above;>)!...Dont know how the fish see it..I've asked several, but they arent tellin.
mic Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It looks pink to me from above;>)!... We are still talking about the plastics right
