Justin Spencer Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Sitting here as it starts to rain and can feel the temp. dropping by the minute, feels like the end of warm weather until next Spring. Spent a good part of Tuesday floating and WET WADING at the end of October. Despite spending hours waist deep in the river I never did get cold, now looks like I need to get my non-leaky waders back from being lent out. Fishing was a little slow, though I did pick up a couple fish each time I stopped, with the exception of two or three riffles. Started with nothing until I put on an October caddis imitation I came up with earlier in the week. Every year when they start to hatch I come up with a new pattern and this year I think I finally hit on a good one. About a two minute tie using quick decent dub, silly leg "wings" topped with some ice dub and I have a fly that caught all but three fish on this trip. Finally quit fishing a dropper because they were only taking the caddis. Caught one nice brown and the rest smallish bows mostly in the 10-13" range. Hate to see the good weather end, but ready for some cooler, woodcutting weather, maybe it will keep the pesky fishermen away so I can have the river back to myself.
