Duck Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Put in at Viney at 7:45, foggy so we fished Viney till 9 and them started hitting different spots down to the Kings, We tried backs of creeks, tops of timber, docks.Tied on,drop shot, spinner baits, jigs, with POOR results, ended up with 2 short spots on a spook junior. Talked to a few others and they had about the same report . I wonder if the bright full moon had something to do with it. Will still keep trying while the weather lasts. Duck.
jeb Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Pretty much the same story on Beaver for me today. I think the full moon last night and mostly slick water this morning put a hurtin' on the bite. I caught a bunch yesterday afternoon in the same spots, so I'm hoping it's just one of those days. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
snakem Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 had a fair day today, with 8 keepers on the blade.cape fair, water from 55 to 62 degrees
rps Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Ran into a salty fisherman I know at the tire store this afternoon. He had a couple on a super spook and buzz bait early but told me the slick water hurt him after that.
Quillback Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I launched from Big M about the same time you did Duck, must have been your outboard I heard over by Viney. I did OK today, could not get the dock jig bite going, nothing on topwater, but did get some on a t-rigged Senko, ended up with 9, 16" spot was the big fish, and a couple of 15" LM's. Very light biters, I missed more than I caught, they were biting like spawning fish moving a bait off their beds. But it was a heckuva nice day as far as weather.
Members NuB2TR Posted November 2, 2012 Members Posted November 2, 2012 Duck.... same here only I started in the Kings and went up to Viney. Caught 2 squeekers in Kings and two shorts at Viney, with nothing in between. Tried most the same rigs you did with no takers. All four caught on a wacky-rigged Senko up close. Could not locate fish in my usual spots... just a vast amount of nothing. In the few spots I found them, no takers. Even trolled back to Kings hoping for a white or two.... nadda. Tough day all around, but what a great day on the water otherwise.
Bill Babler Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Just a quick hint and headed back from the deer woods. Buster is catching them pretty good on most of the same stuff. Fish are still in the 26 to 36 ft. range on the flats. They are not tightly schooled to dropshot but more loose and cruzing those areas. They are also very tight to the bottom and very hard to see on electroinics. He is dragging a football jig and better yet a Carolina Rig with a fish Dr. covering alot of water and catching some decent fish. Fish the football jig just like the C-rig, just drag it behind the boat. I did this a week or so ago and caught them really good at Viney. I'm using a 5" thin senko on a C-rig with a 1/4 oz weight and 8 pound maxi. Mighht be worth a try. I'm headed back for my tree. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Heck just bring the shootin' iron with you while you're fishing, I saw a nice 6 point buck hanging around his lady friend while fishing yesterday. Only problem was it was just about in someone's backyard. The fish are biting at Swepco, Jeb and I were over there today and did well, with a few 3-3.5 lb. fish, and a lot of 1-2 lb. fish. But it's crowded, parking lot was full, can't imagine what it is like on the weekend.
