AMEN, loo10, AMEN!

Okay then, why not have a CONTEST? There are a number of good tiers out there that may just take part in something like this. Plus, it gives those who think they are such talented tiers, who look down at us average tiers, the opportunity to show off their unmatched skills.

Huh? Contest? To copy a pattern? Or is your post 'tongue -n- cheek'? I can't tell!!

If you want to copy Bret's scuds... good luck!!

I agree with Jim and Loo10, I think we should let out some of our "Patent Patterns". My patterns have never made me a fortune, but they catch fish. I will start a new thread on the fly recipe portion. Copy away and tye one on..

If the fly tiers on this site wish to have a contest I think that it would be great. I feel that it would be just like the fly tying contest that happen with Southern Council Federation. I do belive that the pattern was a Grey Ghost. So I say have at, and good luck. I feel that any good fly tier can match to the tee any fly. It's just like the Mohair Leech I did not come up with pattern but I do sale it in my shop. But I do always give credit where credit is do and the person that showed me the pattern a few years back now works for me MR.Jim Murphy. I also asked him before we started saleing them in shop.

Phil,

Thanks for the laugh, :D:lol::D:lol::D:lol: . It was actually Copenhagen between my cheek and gum. I am sure I could come up with an original creation of my own to enter into a tying contest, and I believe a number of other tiers could do so as well.

If you want to copy Bret's scuds... good luck!!

Though numerous people have asked me how he ties them, I have not really wanted to tie Brett's scuds, but thanks for wishing me luck in trying to COPY them.

Rick, I agree with you for what it is worth. How about the Royal Coachman, now the Royal Wulff. Modified and maybe for the better. Does this make Lee Wulff a bad guy or a man who liked a fly and improved on the origional? Jim Murphy ties the best Leech there is going. He has been very kind with me, and showed me how to tie the leech. In fact if there was a fly tieing contest my money would be on Jim!!

I think Mike Kruse created the Mohair Leech.

Laughed at the scud pic- good one.

Fly tying contest... will have to give this some serious thought. Should start a new thread.

Of all the history of the Mohair Leech I would have to say that Shane Stalcup

is the one that came up with pattern that we all now know as the Mohair Leech.
