Fall Catfish On Table Rock

Ok, gonna be on vacation at Holiday Island area for 10 days. I am a catfish addict from Texas and I fish for Flatheads and Blues on Texas lakes.

What are my chances of landing some good sized Flatheads or Blues on Table Rock.

In Texas fall and winter are prime times for big Catfish. I have attached a picture of a 23 lb blue I caught last year in December.

Any help would be considered a blessing!

I am guessing you will find a bonanza. I don't think I have ever read anything about catfishing in a White River lake. Keep us posted.

A couple of weeks ago I was fishing a dock, looked up and there were two dried flathead heads hanging off the roof of the dock, they were big heads, 12" long maybe. They're in there, but I have no idea on where or how to catch them.

Don't hear much about blues, but the Flathead population is above average, IMO.

As of a week or so ago, my neighbor was catching lots of good flatties in the back of coves. He was fishing with green sunfish. /You can generally catch green sunfish in abundance on small brown marabou jigs and an ultralight.

You'll definitely have to get on it cause once the water cools to a certain point the flatheads will really slow down. May/June is a good month. Along with October/early November.

And I fully agree with Wayne. TR has the most abundant flathead population I seen anywhere. If you hit the right spot with a short Trotline (12 hooks or less), you may arrive to find half the line full. My best morning trotlining I had a 13 hook line which had 8 flatheads on it. Best of which was 22 pounds.

Pole fishing TR naturally takes a little more waiting.......

Thanks for the info! Sounds like the flatties are abundant and maybe even underfished, except for Rangerman, sounds like you have done some damage! Thanks bro. for the good info and reports.

I know December ain't the best flattie time of year, but hopefully I can score some perch's and give it a shot, thanks again!

My internet has been down or I would have responded earlier. No blues have been stocked in Table Rock. Rangerman got it right on the flatties. They should be hot for another 3 weeks or so depending on the weather. I hope longer than that because I have a trip planned for around Dec. 12th.
