JohnP Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 3 hours of sitting with the dawg and didn't see a single duck. Did see 4 geese flying towards cedar creek as I was leaving but that was it. Hunted down from beaver and wasn't expecting to see awhole lot but this is the first time in over 15 years bull shoals that I didn't atleast see a few ducks espcially this part of the season, even the ponds that usually hold some ducks were bare. Hopefully this next cold front will push some birds over this way. Will say tho that the sunrise this morning over dekes definately made the sit worth it. Oh well, there's always tomorrow
duckydoty Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Hunted the Rock this morning. Saw 11 golden eye. None close enough to shoot. Checked from Coney Island to the Dam and back in every cove for signs of geese and ducks and saw none A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. BilletHead Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Big push of ducks here the 13th -17th and now thin again. I figured they would stay a few days here and towards you all more South. duckydoty Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 They sure did not come to the Rock. Kept going south to find some food I guess? A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Bird Watcher Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 There's over 500,000 ducks on the West side of Missouri in the duck parks alone.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Boys I can tell you this. Geese are in Arkansas but VERY FEW DUCKS, I ran many farm roads today and at most saw 5 to 7 thousand ducks. Arkansas County, Drew County and Desha Counties these arnt just farm roads any jack and joe can ride but locked roads you have to have the key to get through and some prime duck hunting lease land. The #1 duck was Spoonage followed by Teal and then Gaddie. On the Goose front there are more snows and specks than i have seen in many years. Birds are north or on duck parks north. My brother hunted Beaver and said he saw 15 to 20 goldeneye and a couple buffleheads and that was it. Im just glad i like making geese die. Will be running some areas with my cousins tomorrow to see if we can scratch a limit of ducks and that is horrible to say that when normally all i should have to do is walk down to the 300 acres of rice behind mom and dads house and be done 10 minutes later. There just arnt birds down and what is here is concentrated in a few spots. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

duckydoty Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Found a little honey hole on the Rock today. Me and a buddy ended up with 7 green wings. Not bad for what the Rock has been showing us lately. And yes, we were laying in a mud hole all morning. Messy, but worth it A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! BilletHead Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Way to go Duane! Those greenwing with a layer of fat are some good eats for sure. Ponds icing here and after tomorrow it may get hard to hunt.
