Predator1 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Finally. After all these years of trout fishing with my dad on Taney and along side my neighbor while white bass fishing on the James. I finally got my own fly rod. Hopefully I will do some good tomorrow. Can't wait.
Nighthawk Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 sorry you have caught the disease. you should have taken up heroin or meth; something non-habit forming. seriously welcome to the fraternity. you will find many hours of happiness on the water with a fly rod. there's just a mystique about that's hard to explain. good luck.
laker67 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 welcome Predator, like russ says, it is an enjoyable addition. Soon you will find the need to have rods for more than one occasion, such as day vs night fishing, park rod vs stream rod , or ebay has an auction price that you could not turn down.
dennis boatman Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 ...just remember to "snap it"!!!!! A strike indicator is just a bobber...
BilletHead Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Congrads and fishing will never be the same now for you. BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" "May your fences be short or hope you have long legs" BilletHead
hillbillyflyshack Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Congratulations on entering into the realm of fishing with a flyrod which is the most fun you can have catching fish with. Should you decide to tie your own flies and attempt to catch fish with them then you will have been bitten by the trout gods for sure. Good luck and enjoy!
exiledguide Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Danger danger warning ..Run away while you can...........you will end up building your own rods flies leaders and you will find yourself coveting your neighbors roosters in a different way and you will find yourself hunting pheasants and wood ducks and not knowing why and skinning road kill and people will look at your wife and say that woman is a saint to put up with him........... Sorry I didn't proof read it so I've made some corrections just thinking about it messed me up
podum Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 What Exiled said! I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
perchjerker Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Remember you don't have to be crazy to be a fly fisherman, but it does help. Good luck on the water and don't fill your waders with river water.
