Has anyone had to replace the oil reservoir on a Mercury that is oil injected? There was beep that go on at 4 minute intervals, so we inquired as to what it could be. Was told either fuel filter or oil tank. Replaced fuel filter an dstill had the beep, so I guess it's the oil reservoir. I just don't understand how replacing the tank would do anything, there doesn't appear to be any wires or anything. Any help is appreciated.

Its all about the float getting saturated over a period of time. I had to do it a couple of years ago on mine. I was an easy fix to an annoying problem.

A beep every 4 minutes or so is likely the H2O sensor in the bottom of the fuel filter (indicating that you have moisture in your fuel).

Is it a EFI, or DFI (Opti) ?

It is an EFI. Like I said, we replaced the fuel filter and it kept beeping, I guess that is not to say there could be moisture in the fuel. What do you do if that is the case?

just a thought next door neighbor had similar problem with injected omc tank low or empty sensor was bad thought ol res was low or empty when it was not replaced sensor bing go just a thought

if you oil alarm is beeping, the first thing you need to do is chech the oil level on the reserve tank on the enging under the cowling. if it is low, you have a problem of the supply tank not keeping the reserve tank full. here are the most common problems. take the lid to the supply line loose. take the tube assembly out and check the fine mesh screen in the bottom of tube. good chance it is full of gunk and preventing oil to go up the supply tube. the fix for that is just to remove the plastic mesh screen. the other common problem is that the lid on the fill side of tank is loose or the o-ring is not sealing and letting the tank pressurize. remember to refill the reserve tank on motor. this is where the float alarm is. that cap has electric wires to it. if these simply things do not fix the problem, then either your oil pump is not working or the diaphram in the fuel pump is bad. there are two diaphrams in the pump. that is how the oil tank is pressurized to push oil to the reserve tank on the motor. hope this might help you chase down your problem.
