jdmidwest Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 This happened at Otter Slough the day after I declared my duck season was over. Don't know the details, been getting conflicting reports. Best I can tell, hunting partner was swinging on a duck and shot him. I have also heard cleaning a loaded gun, decoy cord snagged a trigger. Tragic. Point blank shot to the shoulder and neck region. Just a reminder to be safe while hunting. http://www.semissourian.com/story/1927525.html "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Feathers and Fins Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Sad news and hear it every season. We can all be careful but accidents happen. hate to hear it anytime. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jdmidwest Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 I usually hear of a few deer hunters shooting each other, but this is the first waterfowler. Not that it can't happen. Swinging on birds, slippery footing, loaded guns in close quarters. I don't hear of alot of accidents during waterfowl season. There have been a few heart attacks and drownings, but not shooting accidents. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
moodyfour Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I remember one accident similar that happened at Dave Donaldson a few years ago when same type of accident happened. Trying to kill a cripple from a boat when a person raised up in front of the gun. Sad situation and prayers for all that were affected. That is the only accident that I have heard of that was not a boating accident or health related . I usually hear of a few deer hunters shooting each other, but this is the first waterfowler. fishinwrench Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Carelessness. Staying on the proper side of the muzzle at all times just isn't that hard to do. No excuse for it. Sad
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I agree Wrench. Duck hunting should be safe given the close quarters and the ability to know where everyone is. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
JohnP Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Muzzle awarness should always be on everyones mind at all times, gun loaded or unloaded. Thoughts and prayers for all involved.
