Members jarod_campbell Posted January 7, 2013 Members Posted January 7, 2013 Got down a little late this mornign. Got on the water about 9:30 and fished zone 1 right above the dam. I started with a soft hackle because they were midging all over the place. Could not get any to take, so I changed to a black zebra midge size 16 under an indicator about 14 inches. I caught 5 fish in 5 casts, and the morning didn't slow down. I fished up stream to about the 3rd or 4th handicap ramp and caught fish all the way up and down. The fish were very hungry and took the fly very aggresively. Caught some very healthy fish, long and fat. Could not ask for better weather, the day was warm and there was a good chop on the water. Not very many other people on the spring today, but it was a very good day to be there.
Jerry Rapp Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 what days are the trout parks open for C&R? I haven't done it for a while, but am thinking the run out to Montauk or up to Mer. Spring before long. +1 on the wind. I sue to try to go on a windy day. I use ultra light and a 1/80 oz. jig under a "cork". Wind really helped.
mic Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I think Meramec is opened every day at 0730 with the horn at 0800.
cnr Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Bennet and Montauk are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday during the C&R season.
Greasy B Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Yep, and we still have the pleasure of listening to that stupid horn too. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
