Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I am not 100% sure what ' superonmiphobic ' means, but it is sure is cool to watch ! Watch the video and then read the NBC article. Amazing what we can come up with. video - http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-01/video-liquid-bounces-new-superomniphobic-material article - http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/futureoftech/superomniphobic-material-shrugs-oil-blood-acid-more-1B8002723 Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.

Feathers and Fins Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Neat stuff, but unless it can be submerged for long periods of time not sure of the cloathing use. Im thinking that is there ultimate goal. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I think from what I read on the NBC link - this stuff isn't supposed to be totally submersible. " Yet it can't be totally impermeable. "It's a very, very porous coating — porous to anything that's gas-based, but not to anything liquid." That means ordinary air and water vapor can pass through — helpful when you don't want your clothing to stifle you. jdmidwest Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I read about it over on life science website this week. Military is looking at it as a coating on new clothing to make it waterproof, breathable, and reduce laundry by deflecting dirt and blood. I does have possibilities in our applications.
