I personally wouldnt use oak, far too heavy. cypress would be my wood of choice if not going with plywood.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Don't know how heavy it was but looks heavy.It was my Grandpas Boat.

We used to rent wooden jons on the Pomme at Fairfield and they were rock solid. I'm guessing the were 15-16' with a 48" beam, its been awhile. I'm pretty certain they were pine, which was common in MO at one time.

My GS still has a 10' Richline that I got in the late 50's and it's stable within reason. It will work for 2 adults in small waters if they aren't real large.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
