Guest Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Alberto knot for braid to leader. I checked on the line diameters of P-Line CX Premium 6lb (0.21 mm) and Yo Zuri Hybrid 6 lb (0.26 mm). I didn't look up all the listed strengths, but it does seem that the P Line is thinner. alberto is real easy to learn, I like to fish senkos, small swimbaits, shakey heads. So far, my best river largemouth is 4lbs with the alberto knot combo.
abkeenan Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 So......if i want to spool up with 10# maxima.....I should step down to 8#? I personally like 8lb for my spinning gear. For my spinning gear I use it for shakey heads, small jigs, swimming grubs and drop shotting. 10# I use for cranks and jerk baits and I use fluoro for both. 12-15# I use for jigs, texas, jika rigs and use fluoro. Use mono for buzz baits and spinner baits in 15# big game. 17# I use on topwater and use Trilene XL mono 20# I have never used this high of test on TR before but I am going to get into throwing big flutter spoons this year as it looks fun so I will be throwing those big 5" 1+oz spoons on 20lb Seaguar Inv X fluoro. 65# I use braid for A-Rigs and gonna try frogging if the water ever gets high again to flip and pitch it in and out of trees. I know you didn't ask for all this info but hey its still winter and I have cabin fever and nothing else to do.
Members James32962 Posted February 8, 2013 Members Posted February 8, 2013 I have tried many and have owned many different spinning reels over the last 35 years. I am really impressed with the Okuma's. Wal mart sells them for around $30.. In my experience, it has been the most bang for my buck.. Absolute Love them....
gabe Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 20lb braid with Seaguar invisx leader has worked well for me.
drs7558 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I didn't see to many pluses for fire-line. I love it on my spinning reels. With a 10' length of a good fluoro. Don't have much trouble with this set up.
Ham Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Years ago, I tried Fireline. I found it to be really brittle. I broke it multiple times with a quick wrist snaps. There are multiple posts where ppl are in agreement with you and have said braid with a short piece of leader is a great combo. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Iclass Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I use Gamma edge floro 8#...Only problems I have is distance. Long casts don't matter as much were I came from...not real sure if the extra 10-15 feet matter as much on TR
