Members Chico Posted February 4, 2013 Members Posted February 4, 2013 Good morning yall!!! We do a float on the Buffalo every year and this year we're going back to float the lower wilderness area and using wild Bill outfitters. We'll be using the 16'9" old town two man canoe's that they have and I was wondering if anyone knows if a Yeti 75 would fit in that canoe either behind the front seat or between the two wooden braces? It looks like the 65 would fit fine and the 105 would even fit since it's not as long but is taller. Thanks!
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 If it helps I believe that canoes has a 37" beam. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gavin Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'd go with two smaller coolers instead of one big one...one for beverages, the other for food...
jdmidwest Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I think I would buy my own canoe and a cheap igloo cooler.... They want a fortune for those Yeti's. Gavin has a good point, 2 coolers. Beverage coolers get opened alot and food only once or twice a day. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Members Chico Posted February 5, 2013 Author Members Posted February 5, 2013 We'll have a couple of soft side coolers for drinks but we always take one large cooler with food. We'll be camping 3 nights and not having to worry bout ice would be great. Also I can get the yeti for much cheaper through my work.
steve l Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Not sure a 75 would fit, although maybe lomg ways. But you don't need a yeti for three nights. I have an igloo 70, and it holds ice for five nights in July. When I o in May for three nights I do three blocks and two bags crushed/cubes and that is way more than needed. Never done the two cooler thing but it looks to be an option.
Members Chico Posted February 5, 2013 Author Members Posted February 5, 2013 The yeti is definitely not a necessity but I've been wanting one for a while now and ya know how that goes! Lol!
Gavin Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The 65 looks like a good fit...and not to heavy to load or unload...a loaded 105 would be a beast.
gotmuddy Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I have a buffalo canoe and a 65qt yeti fits perfect between front and rear seats. in fact it fit good enough that when me and two buddies got drunk and flipped the canoe the cooler stayed put. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members Chico Posted February 5, 2013 Author Members Posted February 5, 2013 If the width on these old town 169 canoes is 37" what do y'all think the inside width is? In other words how wide do y'all think the lip is around the top?
