marcusearlt Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Hmm, kind of makes you think. If this place was so wonderful and full of so many trophy fish then why are they selling it? Could just boil down to lack of demand for such a premium priced service in the area. Also, I wonder if a guy could buy this place and sell off different tracts, keep the river frontage and recoup a lot if not all or more of the original investment, all over several years that is. Heck, if we all just didn't buy tackle for a month or two we could probably just buy it outright! "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong." Quillback Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 That's a chunk of change for undeveloped land. I'd love to see AGFC pick it up, I wonder if they know it's for sale?
Quillback Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Saw this in the AGFC news: *Denied an application from the Spring Valley Anglers Rod and Gun Club requesting a permit to privately stock trout in a six-mile segment of Spavinaw Creek in Benton County.
bfishn Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 That land price might get down into the ~reasonable range if they run out of publicly-funded fish to "sell" to their private corporate clients. Send 'em to JM, he knows how to keep 'em grinning and reaching for the wallet. I can't dance like I used to.
marcusearlt Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I'm pretty sure anybody can go fish out there front the SVA shop, as long as you fork over a $100 rod fee for the day. I know a guy that guides out there. I'll double check with him. It could be worth it to do once or twice considering the privacy factor and the potential for quality fish. Quillback Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hard to say, because that pronouncement from the AGFC doesn't offer any detail, but I don't see how they can continue to have trout fishing if they aren't allowed to stock trout any longer.
