Looks like one of them lonely little kitties have munched on one of our 30k imported Elk. Caught in the moment by a game cam on the Peck Ranch area, poor little meandering Mountain Lion over a carcasss of a juvy elk.

I wonder if the Elk release a pheremone that attracts the mountain lions? Has the MDC studied that?

Not being one to cater to conspiracy theories, but I seem to see a pattern developing. Elk come to MO. Mountain Lions seem to appear out of nowhere on game cams and roadsides.

Either the Elk release a scent that attract them here or MDC reintroduced them to control the Elk population. It is just a theory. I Am NOT Jumping to ConfuSIONS.

JW I suspect you're right but not a theorist. You can't introduce one element into an ecosystem without affecting all of it. Who knows where it will all lead, but if you're theory is correct, camping may beome a little more wild, LOL.

My mom and dad seen one east of Raymore,Mo and west of 291 hwy a couple of years ago.Last year my uncle (lives south of Raymore) and a couple of people that was with him seen one go through his field about 5 minutes after 4 or 5 deer went through...In the late 90s a friend and his son were fishing on the Blue River in Stanley,Ks and he said they were kicked back watching their poles and he said he got a funny feeling and he got to looking around and he said he spotted one across the river sitting and staring at him.He said it got up and walked away.Last year my girlfriend swore up n down she saw a huge cat with a long tail dead on the side of the road between Bolivar and Springfield on13.I doubt they are just passing through like they claim.

Nice try JD. No calves were imported so there is no $30 loss.

Do we know that the kitty killed the elk?? I see buzzards all the time standing next to a carcass. Never seen one kill something though.

They brought the elk to help feed the cougars that were already here. Looks like the plan is working. Saves cattle and kids.

Not really surprised there'd be a lion in one of the most remote parts of the state, especially after the one captured last year near Salem- it'd be cool if they can determine whether or not it's the same one. Not surprised it was eating an elk, either- that is what they tend to do.

I have just about had it with all of your common sense stuff! Your reality based thought process is really getting in the way of some fabulous dribble!

We have some here that are trying to turn this into a MDC bashing board. And you sir are getting in the way! Please let them develope those fantastic conspiracy theories and spread as fact like FOX Newz!

Thank you and good day.

With high deer population in Missouri any lions that wander in are likely to stay. At least until their sex drive sends them wandering again.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
