I'm not trying to "shame" anyone into posting a report and thanks to those who do. I just think it's basic, common courtesy to say, "Hey! Thanks for posting that report the other day! I did well" or "I learned something" or "I tried your technique several times and finally got it to work for me!" or "I tried and didn't do well... what did I do wrong?"

Something! Post something! If you value this forum at all, contribute! Heck, you're not using your real name (most of you).

In the end, this site is what it is. I'm not going to change it to keep the "lurkers" out. But I will address this every once in a while.

Hey Guys,

New to the forum. Me and my buddy fished the mouth of flat creek all the way up to mccord bend. We had 7 short bass and one keeper crappie. This was our first trip this year and even though we did not slay em' and we did get rained on, it was still fun being out on the water. Maybe next weekend?

I tried it both Saturday and Sunday right with everyone else but with no real luck past one keeper crappie each day and some small bass. Tried a black and silver swimming minnow, blue and green, and blue with green flake, bringing it back slow right on the bottom or close to it from 6-12 feet. From what i'm reading it's a color issue. Any thoughts?

Josh,

Thanks for sharing your information. I have not gone out and tried it yet, although, I have wanted too.

I share my trout reports, where, when, what and how all the time. I do that because I want others to enjoy fishing Taney as much as I do. I have learned that even though the information is shared, not everyone can have the same results. Every day, every hour, and every person is different. I find proof in that in the responses to some of the reports that you and others have been posting. Most people claim they only did so/so after going to the same spots, fishing same stuff. I have also seen this standing near friends while trout fishing. Fishing same spot, same flies, same retrieve but very different results. The only inconvenience has been a few extra people at the fishing hole on the weekends.

Phil is absolutely right in expecting a little more feed back in response to the information that is shared on this forum. A thanks for the help/insight/tip goes a long way.

I'm always happy to post a report, but I haven't been on the Rock for a while. I'm hoping to get out a bit more starting next week.

Thanks for addressing this Phil. I made a comment over a year ago about how people "used" to talk about fishing. As for a report, caught six crappie in two trips to the dock at loz. Could care less what happened to the eagles or the blackhawks or the cardinals. They use to joke and rib and have a good time.

Well said, duckydoty. Most of the time I'll describe the spot/conditions, but not the actual location. If someone asks privately, no problem. I believe what you said--Person B isn't Person A, etc. Then again, this being a large site that's heavily slanted toward bass 'n' trout (not by design, but by usership), it's pretty much a secondary hangout for me. It's not as easy to open up when you don't actually know most of the other posters or share some of their views on fishing.

That said, I know I could contribute a little more than I have been. Most of us came here to learn something, I imagine. And most likely, we all know something that someone else would find enlightening.

For what it's worth.... I use plain jig heads, no paint. No real reason. Lazy? But I had no trouble, and usually don't, catching crappie, whites or bass.

Don't get me wrong... I like color heads too. I do think they'll work sometimes when plain won't.

My brother and I fished Saturday with no luck. Caught 1 crappie from about 8:00 to 1:00. We fished mostly above Marsh Cove. The 1 I caught was on the steep bank just above Marsh Cove. We went on up as far as the flats on the left at the turn before the bridge. We use pearl swimming minnows, mostly 1/16 head, but used some 1/8 head. I use red jig heads with white eyes and some chartruese heads. Went back towards Bear Den Cove and fished some for bass also-jerkbaits, jigs, wiggle wart, but had not luck. Just wasn't our day I guess. We probably should have went on up towards the Flat Creek bridge to find the crappie? Did find the underwater point Josh referred to! Luckily, I was idling slow and was in less than 1 foot of water all of a sudden! We will try it again and better luck next time. I do appreciate all the great information on this site and enjoy everyone's input.
