mic Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 In an earlier life, I was an Air Traffic Controller. The weather guys we worked with said any report past 72 hours is a complete guess. However, check out what is on the 10 day report.
Geoff Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Good, I hope it happens. Im ready for winter to be over and gone. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I think they do a better job now and about the only consistent variation seems to be in timing and duration of temperatures. One can hope the duration is to conservative on this forecast. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Jerry Rapp Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 all that I know is it is 46 degrees with very little wind. I am going fishing this afternoon.
mic Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Jerry, I'm in a building with no windows.... YOU SUCK
Jerry Rapp Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 sorry mic. Only caught 2. Worst trip I have ever had to this little lake. Hurry up and get that building done.
Al Agnew Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Yeah, I can't stand it. I'm going tomorrow, even though I knew the warm weather hasn't gotten strong enough yet to warm the water temps much, and Saturday would be better. But Saturday is a weekend day and I'm sure there will be others wanting to get on the water then.
Jerry Rapp Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 good luck Al. I thought of pulling out of Killarney about 3 and going over to Roselle. But that water would have been colder with ice melt coming down I think. Killarney was 41.5 at 1 pm, and we saw some 44 toward evening, but nothing ever got going. Caught one in 10 ft of water on a shakey head, and one in 3 foot of water on a Red Eye Shad. Never got bit on a jerk, shad rap (caught several on it two weeks ago), road runner or a little tube.
jdmidwest Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 30 mile wind gusts on Sat. Thunderstorms on Sunday. There goes the float trip. Whites are not running yet anyway. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Al Agnew Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Yeah, what the heck happened to the sun today?? By noon, there was a thin overcast, and by 2 PM it was cloudy, a little windy, and cold enough that I had to put back on my down jacket. Water temps on the middle Meramec started out at 43 degrees and made it up to 46.7 before starting to drop with the overcast. I caught probably 35-40 bass, about evenly divided between smallmouth and largemouth (and one spotted bass), but couldn't find the big ones...the biggest I caught were about 15 inches.
