snap Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 there was a nice thread on the guitar players.....like to see if any harp players around......I love the daredevils(all the harp stuff) and old rolling stones!!! the under assistant west coast promo man, sweet virginia, the spider and the fly to name a few!!! all hohner harps, mostly special 20's....do have a crossover and a ms blues....love the crossover!!!
ness Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I fumble around with it -- nothing to brag about. Mostly traditional, Irish or Bluegrass. Been using Promasters the most, but have a few other odds and ends too. I've got more than I need, so I've been thinking about putting them on e-Bay. I've restored a couple old Marine Bands, including this pre-war mouse ear that was a rusty mess when I got it: John
Gavin Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 My bro-in law is pretty good harp player. He's a natural...He sucks at most everything and blows every opportunaty.
snap Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 good one gavin!!! I guess I pretty much fumble around with it also, ness.....great job on bringing the old marine band back to life!!!
jdmidwest Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I was thinking of something else like an angel harp. Thats a harmonica in my book. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
snap Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 ...............slang jd!!!....... do not think I have ever seen one of them angel harps...hopefully one of these days!!!!
exiledguide Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 When I was laid up, taking chemo in 1998, I failed misserably trying to play the harmonica. It was fun and it helped me get through a rough patch and for a while I could almost play along with Muddy or The Wolf recordings but I Know I will never be a Charlie Musselwhite just like I'll never be a Buddy Miller with a guitar.
Don Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Wanting to learn. Just bought a few Hohner Blues Harps last month. Keys of A, C, D, and G. Good instrument to relax to. Makes me really appreciate those who play guitar and harp at the same time. Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
snap Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 you have the right ones Don!!! I wear those out, E not so much, B and F rarely....agree with you about playing guitar and harp at same time!!! Springsteen does a lot of that on the Nebraska album/CD.....some good stuff there!!!
