Springfield Lake Hydrilla

Recommended Posts

I have been out of town and not able to swing by the lake but I am assuming with the colder weather the hydrilla has still yet to begin to grow back a turn green. Does anybody know what stage it is at right now or when they suspect it will begin to get green and grow up?

Have a great day!

Hey guys, I took the yak out on Saturday morning. Brand new one, so I needed to get used to it and figure out the balancing since it was a bit shorter. At any rate, I did more paddling than fishing learning how to use it and in all honesty I didn't see anything. I did notice around the the flats across from the boat house that the algea had turned a bit greener, so it may be starting soon. I didn't have a thermometer, but I would guesstimate that the water temperature was in the upper 40's to low 50's in that area. Maybe someone who has been out can post a recent surface temp recording. We should really start seeing those bloom out when the temperatures return to the mid to upper 50's.

gurzik, Same way I found them, except I did well this last trip out with the darter head and single tail 5" grub. I had that feeling that the temp was in that range. Based on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday's forcasts, it sounds like that temp may very well drop back into the lower 40's X-(

Its back to California for me. I was glad to get home for a week, and through a jerkbait. When I get back it should be summer patterns. Good luck to everyone, and be safe!
