dtrs5kprs Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I know. The gal didn't know what she had, she just knew she wanted to get rid of it. That wasn't the half of it but that was led to the drinking:).........I have a lifetime supply of chompers twin tails in all the good colors. Her husband had bought them in bulk. I got a 400ct bag of watermelon candy 4"chompers for .50 and that was just one of the bags. I weighed my chompers on the fish scale and I've got 20lbs of just chompers and it didn't cost me over $5........I could tell you more .......but I'm feeling really guilty. If that wasn't an estate sale, the next one will be when her husband finds out.
mixermarkb Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 What is the old joke about "I hope the wife never sells my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it??"
dtrs5kprs Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I plan on leaving instructions to pile my baits and guns around me and burn me like a heathen king of the ancient world.
podum Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Ok, so I have 4 wee warts circa 1986 bought at Della's Bait and Tackle in Lemay MO. They are not clear, but opaque. What do I have? I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.

Wee warts are a nice pond and stream bait, but not the same hot ticket as the standard wart. Good bait to fish with, if they will run right. Have a little bit of a bad rep for being hard to tune (which is saying something given the wart's history in that area). Really don't run deep enough to be as effective as the regular wart. Might be very collector friendly depending on the colors. Also some of the salmon / trout trollers in the NW like them.
podum Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 thanks. One is bone with an orange belly. The other 3 are various shades of shad (silver, black back). I caught some big channel cats on one of them years ago at Terre Du Lac. They wiggle. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Guest Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I came across a few Wee warts and Pee Wee Warts. The Pee Wee dont have a rattle, They both have a weird looking attachment on the bill versus a split ring or snap. Question: Can this attachment be removed/replaced for painting? Could I replce it with a split ring on the Wee Warts since they have a recessed hole? The Pee Wee Warts have a triangular cut out, just plain weird. Either way, these little guys might be killer on the creeks.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 It's just a figure 8 connector. Snip it or open it, and use a #1 duo-lock type snap. A size or two down from the regular wart snap. They should find plenty of brown fish in running water. Need some serious TLC though. That is just plain wrong to leave them looking like that. I have some "generic" standard size wart bodies that I use to test colors. They have a recessed cup area at the line tie and work just fine. If I remember correctly, that was a feature of some of the earlier Storm baits, maybe pre-fire era. Perhaps Darren can help answer that one more completely. Is the triangular cut out where a belly hook would normally be? If so they may be built for the odd looking single hook deal the trout trollers use. Kind of like the thru body hook on a J-Plug.

I got them off a coworker for $20. I plan to start refurbishing these old plugs next week, since I cant fish right now. The triangular cut out is at the line tie. thanks
