stlfisher Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 LaSalle holds on against KState. A-10 is looking good so far at 6-0. Lot's of brackets getting busted today.
Quillback Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Yeah I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday and they were picking LaSalle to win based on the fact that the A-10 was winning every game thus far. Looks like they called it right. I also agree on that SLU vs Oregon game, should be a good one!
moguy1973 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Yep, my whole West bracket is done. Had New Mexico and KSU in the elite eight there. Yahoo had 50+ perfect brackets until then. Only one left that has them all right. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
stlfisher Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 georgetown goes down...upset city today. my brackets are so toast!
moguy1973 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Lots of double digit seeds in the round of 32... -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Al Agnew Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Well, now there are three number 2s that got beat in the first round in the last two years. Gonzaga IS overrated. Miami should have gotten the last number 1 seed. I guarantee you if North Carolina or Duke had won the ACC, they'd have been seeded number 1. Mizzou just looked like they didn't care. And what the heck was the deal with Bell? The best defensive player on the team, and instead they have Pressey, the worst defensive player, guarding the hot hand for CO State for most of the game while Bell rides the pine.
ozark trout fisher Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 There were a lot of people who weren't giving a solid defensive effort. Actually, outside of Oriakhi and perhaps Bowers, I can't think of any of our main players that had a great defensive game. Negus Webster-Chan came in rather surprisingly for Bell but he played well. It was a weird decision to have him sit the second half, but defensively the match-ups clearly did not appear to be working for him when he was in the game. He was playing hard, but we needed to try something else defensively. It didn't really work, but I guess I don't fault Haith for trying. There's this narrative that Missouri's effort wasn't there. That's just not true, in my opinion. It's the tournament, not the NIT or one of the other postseason tournaments where a lot of teams really couldn't care less. Of course they wanted to win and were a lot more crushed by this loss than any fans. It was apparent in the post-game reaction. But this is not an elite defensive team, and they turned in arguably their worst performance on that end of the floor at the worst time. There are clearly issues with the postseason culture at Missouri (ever since the surprise elite 8 run in 2009) but lack of effort hasn't been the problem. mediocre defense, combined with seemingly not being able to get a bucket in the first 10 minutes had a lot more to do with it. And we are not showing Colorado State enough credit by just talking about what Missouri did wrong. There was another team in this game. Colorado State played well and I have nothing but respect for them. The took this game more than Missouri gave it away. That's what a nearly perfect offensive performance, hitting the glass, and making the vast majority of your free-throws can do. Let's face it; this team was not the top 10 team many of us thought they were early on. That was unfair for a team with so little experience playing with each other. I hate to be like this, but I said early on that I expected something a lot like what we ended up seeing this season. It's not really a disappointment. I don't think we exceeded my expectations, but we probably met them. And that's okay. We can't go 30-5 every season. 23-11 is a good year.
stlfisher Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 SLU needs a big second half....gonna be tough down 16
Jerry Rapp Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Oregon is making everything they throw up. It has to slow down, but the Billikens may be to deep in the hole to crawl out.
stlfisher Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 that was ugly. Thought maybe i was watching mizzou for a sec. poor shooting by slu and oregon was on fire. not much you can do..but some of our shots were way way off tonight. Nice team a great season and good bunch of a guys...
