Several of us are coming for a fishing trip on Monday, the 1st, and will be fishing all week. We've

been following the weather (B-r-r-r), and are encouraged that a slow warming trend seems to be

coming. We'll be in Long Creek, primarily. We're not A-rig fishermen. What other patterns should

we expect (hope) to be productive?

Hopfully by the 1st we should start seeing our regular Spring patterns. It has just been dreadfully cold here. We are running this year about 15 degrees below normal. If you are a crappie or whitebass fisherman, it should be getting ready to turn on up there. Buddy of mine caught a nice bunch of crappie in Long Creek yesterday.

College kids fishing the dam area caught some real pigs on the A-Rig. Long Creek, would be considered the dam as it is within 3 miles or so. I would for sure bring your suspending stickbaits this time of the year, and of course never leave home without the jig. Smallmouth should be getting close to eating a grub, but it is just a little slow yet.

Still a week off, so watch the forum and you should get some better intel.

Good Luck

Last year we had a lot of luck on runouts off main lake points and gravel flats, fishing a Carolina rig with

a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw and a football jig with a twin tail grub. Is it too early for that pattern?

Is anyone fishing a weightless or lightly weighted Zoom Super Fluke in the areas where you're fishing

stick baits? Any luck with that?

Coming down the 14th. Expect it to still be too cold for the weightless worms then. FB jig will probably work, hopefully the grub will get going. We look to be at least a few weeks off track. It will be like fishing late March stuff in April. May resort to fishing the rivers if 13 area is too cold.

I am new to the forum, so HELLO to everyone. The grub bite is getting better, caught several last Saturday around K City. One was a 3 lb LM, and several keeper K's. By far my best bait was the jerk bait, with at least a 3 to 5 second pause between jerks. Hopefully it will warm up this week!

How is the shoreline in the long creek area? Are there many cedars along the edge still in the water or have the low water levels left the shorelines barren beaches?

I think you might have a tough time finding carp to shoot during April, especially in the dam/long creek area as the water there is the last to warm compared to the Kings/White/James arms and even more so this year being the water temps are 5-10 degree cooler than normal around this time. In my experience I really don't see carp cruising the shallows until May and the water temps are in the mid 60's to 70+. I am no carp authority but this is just my observation.
