He uses dynamite and don't let him tell you any different. When you throw a stick of dynamite on the end of a line with a long fuze and the rig up about 4 of them.....he looks like he's "trolling".......then you see explosions like he was trying to sink a U-boat and then fish appear in his boat! Lol!

"Oh look.....300 whites!"

Lol!!!!

Is the river end south of Blue Springs likely to clear up this week? I would like to get on some crappie, and don't much like the big end in my small boat.

I've heard that the "river" is clearing up nicely. But the south end of Blue Springs still seems like the lake to me. I think you'll have to go farther up the river to find clear water. And you can look at the forecast and have as educated an opinion as most anyone here on whether it will continue to clear. No telling how much rain we will get towards the end of this week.

I don't have sidescan. I have down imaging, but don't really know how to use it.

I just got down imaging (structure scan for Lowrance) myself. Try adjusting your contrast settings as that's how they adjust sensitivity for that transducer vs. traditional sonar. At least that's what my manual states. Larger units that have both sonar and structure scan have chart speed, ping speed, and auto-sensitivity but I'm not sure if it affects the higher frequency down scan/structure scan transducers due to the crystal used in the electronics.

Best thing to do is to find fish suspended (they tend to roam around on Beaver) and once you know for sure there are fish in the area or active fish (topwater activity, lines on the graph from fish swimming up and down, etc), that's whey you start trolling or casting.

Beaver is not an easy lake to fish and the fish are very picky. Three guys can throw the same bait to the same area. One guy will flat kill em'. The other two will get mixed results. The one guy does something slightly different in his presentation, retrieve speed, etc. So be sure and experiment and when you get a bite, immediately stop and think "why" and try to repeat that. That's not an easy habit to get into and I admit, I don't but I'm trying. :)

Without the side scan the best options is zig-zagging tthe boat while trolling. 2 to 4 rods covering 4 diffrent depths 5 10 15 20 combined with the sonar will help weed out the fish. Its really going back to basics of pre fish finders where people trolled and used land bearings to mark fish. Even with GPS and all the fancy stuff today I still mark land bearings more than anything.

fished twin bridges yesterday evening and the white was still murky. Richland had cleared nicely and water levels were only a couple inches high. Tough evening though, only caught a few and they were all right before dark. Saw a few groups rubbing up in the shallows so they are still spawning but definitely not with as much ferocity. I'd say the season is winding down with the rivers being as warm as they are the fish will be retreating to deeper haunts very shortly. Caught them on a grey swimming minnow jerked very erratically. Saw some others having a little more success with live minnows on the bottom. Good luck! I'm ready for the crappie
