npierceuark Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Yep twin is packed, either plan on walking a ways, swimming across or have a boat or canoe. Caught a couple dozen this weekend, lots of small males. Saw some guys tossing the a rig that were absolutely wearing them out. I think I may be a believer now, they were catching 10 to my one.
jdelow77 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I'm not paying for a new rod and reel to toss that darn A-rig with , I know lots of people throw them and have success but , I just can't do it !
npierceuark Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Well it was pretty funny seeing these guys tossing that set up with a $20 ugly stick, you couldn't tell if they had a fish or not until the lure and or fish came out of the water. Can't make too much fun of them though, they out-fished me haha
jdelow77 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Now I would throw it with a rod I already have , but I wouldn't go out and but a brand new setup just to throw one ..
Sore Thumbs Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 I like watching the guys with the open face reels upside down and reeling backwards. They still kick my butt when it comes to white bass.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 OK STOP you guys got me cracking up maybe we all need to hold our mouths like them and reel backwards lord forgive me. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
hoglaw Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Saw an older couple in a boat out there today and the fellow was catching them pretty good on the A-rig. A coworker told me I could park at his place in the polo subdivision and take his four wheeler down there, so I did. I drove right to my spot behind that subdivision and caught a few right off the bat, then it slowed down a little around 5. After about 5:30, it was every cast until dark. I have no idea how many I caught, but I'm positive I unhooked over 100. At one point I landed a fish on 16 successive casts. Best fish were one walleye that I don't think quite made 18 inches, and a really solid hybrid that went about 4lbs. It was one of my best slimer days ever.
JohnF52 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Can you still get a boat in at twin bridges or is it getting too low?
npierceuark Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Well I succumbed to the allure of the alabama rig and it performed just like it should have. Not as fast and furious as hoglaw's report but definitely enough to keep one interested. Best fish were two hybrids that both went over 20" the largest weighing in just shy of 5 lbs. A couple fly fisherman across the river from me caught an 8 lb and a 7lb hybrid in the time we were there. Definitely a good evening to be out, I wish the white bass stuck around all year haha.
