MSUFisherBear Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 Aarchdale, I meant to say, I thought I may have seen you out a couple of weeks ago jigging around a lay down by the rr tracks. Also, I am guessing that you guys catch them out of brush as well. Definitely going to have to try it again. May have to get the trap out and catch some minnows for use. aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 im always in a 14 ft Landau with an all white outboard. yeah the only crappie i have ever caught is around brush on that lake using white triple ripples. During the summer last year the boat house there in the park sold minnows.
MSUFisherBear Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 I'll look for ya the next time out. I always wonder when I see another fisherman out on the water when I am yakking along. There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
luckycraft Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Would like to go out to springfield lake this weekend, but I guess I will go see if I can dust a gobler in the morning. Drove across the James. High and murky. Need some chartruse!!!
Members Crappie G Posted April 25, 2013 Members Posted April 25, 2013 I have caught several crappie on Springfield, but it has been inconsistent. I'm a little too reluctant to switch baits as much as I should. Last fall I had a couple of good days catching crappies on a small white bellied crank. I caught prob five or six 10 inch plus in under a couple of hours. For me that's a good outing. I often have my kids with me in a pond prowler, so I generally don't get to fish as long or where I want to. On another trip shortly after that one, I caught a nice 14 incher. That was the only fish I caught that day, but I was happy. I grew up fishing north of Kansas City using live baits, so I've struggled catching crappies on Springfield, but some nice ones when I do catch them. I'm looking for a couple of 16 - 18 inchers maybe to hang on the wall.
WakenLake Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 is that a bass or a crappie? www.jordanvalleyautorepair.com

I was out today and caught 5 nice bass. one was a near 5 lb. I have a knack for topwater it seems. My buddy using the same lure/ line. Not one fish.
