yaknar Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 When I started out kayaking I would always bring two rods with me, just in case something happened to one. I can't use the rod holders that came installed on the kayak because I go under low hanging trees and they eat rods. But over the winter, with nothing to do, I decided to redo my rod holder so I could bring one more. I now have one topwater, one swimbait and one crank. And yes I have plenty of room for my feet.
BilletHead Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Two flyrods, one built and one in a rod tube stored in a hatch on my Diablo. 8weight and 6 weight. One strung up depending on size of flys, size of quarry and wind conditions. Wayne SW/MO Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I like. When i got my tarpon I immediately put a rod holder on it, then realized it be more like trolling for a tree. I generally carry 3 in the same area, but loose, and I like your idea better. The biggest problem I have is in snagging the rope I keep in the front handle as a leash. In my solo I can just slide them under the seat and keep the tips in the bow. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
UnCivE Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Usually at least 3. I normally fish all baitcasters medium-medium heavy 7 fters. One rigged w/ topwater, one with worm/jig/plastic and one with a crankbait or a spinnerbait. I like to be able to switch back and forth quickly dependent on the structure I find.
timsfly Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I carry 3 usually Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop

yaknar Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 podum, It's a 5 year old Ocean Kayak Caper that I bought on ebay, they have discontinued this model. It weights 45 lb so I can throw it up on my shoulder to carry it. And the hatch come in handy on a cool morning when I wear wader or a jacket, I can take them off and put them in the hatch, out of the way. I do take off the carrying handle up front when I'm fishing so my lures don't get tangled in it.
