A group of friends fished a few days out of Aunts Creek last week. Ranged from Campbell Pt. to a ways up the James, to down by Joe Bald area & a bit around Kimberling. Lots of shallow beds with males. Some spots, some LM. Could see many deeper in clearer water.

Friday overall best bite with rain, very good wind, cold temps and clouds was spinner bait with best LM at 6-1/4 caught by buddy Jim. That was a spinnerbait fish from deeper boat dock. Overall numbers were fair. Some grub and shakey head bite. Some deep crank bite, middle of pockets, mostly kentuckies.

Saturday numbers were way up. A-rig, jerkbait, Redfin, grub, shakey & mojo rig fish doctor. As wind was down, spinnerbait bite was absent. Nice, warmer (finally), cloudy, light wind conditions. Saw quite a few fish chasing shad up the James pretty deep in creeks. A mix of LM, SM, spots, whites & crappie on the baitfish. Some folks had a few, some a lot. Very good grub bite for SM on pea gravel. Some very nice SM were caught. Best two LM for our group Saturday were both 4-3/4. One on A-rig and one on Redfin. Interesting to see so many good size LM in the middle of the lake chasing this time of year.

Back in a few weeks. Can't wait. Good luck out there.

Good report!! Glad to see some topwater action. I need to catch a bigun on top to get my fix.
