Members Blauvelt11 Posted May 9, 2013 Members Posted May 9, 2013 Hi everyone, Im Coosas brother and thank you for all the replies. Smallmouth fishing from my kayak has began to be the only fishing i tend to think about. Of course I will hit the crappie spawn and catfish occasionally but it seems I have become addicted to the fight of a smally. Cant wait to get my pole in the water in some of the streams this summer
cnr Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 A good rule of thumb for me is about 1 mile per hour of fishing. With the water levels up as they are now I go a little faster since the current pushes you along through the holes. When it is really hot like last summer I don't do as long of a float since some time is spent in the water cooling off.
moguy1973 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I've fished an 11 mile stretch of the Big Piney/Gasconade and it was a long day. We put in around 7:30am at Rt 66 Canoe on the BP and didn't get to Jerome until around 5pm. And we really didn't get to fish much. Granted the water was way down last year and there was a lot of long slow water we had to paddle through to get to the next fishing spot. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
