Went out this past Sat. and Sun. May 11 & 12 to fish the Ned Rig. Fished from Mill Creek to point 7 in the K city area. Caught several top water fish early on a spook jr. Then, went to work with the Rig. Using a PJ's 1/8th oz mushroom head jig and the zinker z in PBJ. Fished spawning pockets, and gravel/chunk banks/points leading to spawning coves. Had to fish areas where the moss was not as bad, as I cleaned that stuff of the bait on almost every cast, except those cast that the fish found the rig first. Caught mostly female K's and smallies in 6' ft down to 15'. Ended the day Saturday with 25, with about 10 keepers. Fished the Rig very slowly, and with slight up and down motion. I know now why Dave enjoys fishing this thing so much, It is a blast! Thanks Dave for posting so much info about this technique.

Sunday was a slower bite for me, but caught 8, with mostly keepers with 6 smallies and 2 K's. I caught this 18" beauty that I estimated to be about 3.5 lbs. She was on a long point on a drop from 13' to 25', and yes the Ned did the deed. Lite spinning rod with 6 lb. floro........What a fight. There was quite a group of fish on this point, and I could see them roaming around in water at about 15' down. I had to go have lunch with my wife as it was Mothers Day, so I left them and went home. (He makes that sound like a bad thing! - signed the wife, mother of his two children. aka The Awesome One of the Two of Us! I had to help him post the pictures after all.)

If you haven't tried the Ned Rig you need to, it is truly The Little Bait that Can. Good Luck

Glad you tried it. There really is nothing like it, and over the last three years it has worked when other baits do not.

Interesting little bait where can a person find out more about it?

gramps...There are several posts up here going back into last month. Other option is to search this forum for "Ned Rig", or "Midwest Finesse".

Ned has a blog at InFisherman

There are also some videos up on my youtube channel, "521VX05". Links to those are in some of the earlier threads here.

I came over from Tulsa and am staying at Holiday Island for the week. I'm glad I read about the "Ned Rig" before I went out. That little thing is amazing! I tried it for the first time Saturday afternoon and caught 12-15 Kentuckies and largemouths in no time. Nothing big, but lots of fun. I'm fishing it on a medium action Falcon Lowrider baitcast rod with a tuned Alphas 103, I can cast this setup much more accurately than I can spinning gear.

I can't wait to try the rig on Tenkiller....

Thanks again to all that have posted. This site is wonderful!
