Members Kent Dickerson Posted May 18, 2013 Members Posted May 18, 2013 Howdy, I am wanting to plan a day of guided fishing for white bass for my wife and I in June. Wondered if anyone could recommend a guide? Thanks.
fishinwrench Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Success with post spawn Whites would be a bona-fide test for any guide. Take plenty of beer and snacks and don't let your wife forget to take "her book".
Nwtf gobbler Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Bob Bennett or Les Jarmin would both be good guides, however i'd be surprised if they could get you on good whites in June. I'd target crappie or walleye instead
Members Kent Dickerson Posted May 18, 2013 Author Members Posted May 18, 2013 NWTF Gobbler, thank you. I had a great day on Truman last week vertical jigging to whites suspended deep (for truman) over humps. I was thinking there might be some surface bite early and late and suspended over humps or channels otherwise. You guys are saying in your experience that is unlikely on stockton in June?
Dutch Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 The surface game is probably going to be the only game in town for whites in June on Stockton. It doesn't have the humps like Truman does. There might be some trolling but I would not hazzard a guess as to what part of the lake might pay off.
wuteversbitin424 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 if it were me...and keep in mind i have never went after whites post spawn....i would guess channel swings on windy points suspended on the drop but thats basicly just something i congered up that sounded good to me. i know pre spawn i found them se of hight point on a rocky windy bank right above the drop.
sandbc Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 if you want whites in june then get out your lights and go night fishing. you will start catching the little ones by 9:30 and by midnight you will be having a blast pulling in the bigger ones on every cast with a jig over a brush pile and you will even pick up a few crappie in between. good luck
Members Kent Dickerson Posted May 19, 2013 Author Members Posted May 19, 2013 Thank you for the responses.
luckycraft Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 If you want Whites, Wait until opening day of rifle deer season. That is what I do, when all the other fisherman are in the woods i am ripping fall whites. But I would have no clue to catching them in june. Only catch them on mistake that time of year.
podum Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 What Lucky said. Except I start in late September . . . This time of year through the summer ... follow the gulls. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
