Clayton Will Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 While Bass fishing I snagged into this small snapper. It almost got me and I wanted to lift it into the boat but my wife reminded me how much they smell. We remembered our brother in law showing his V-shaped 3" black and blue bruise on his back from a 12 pound snapper he caught turtle trapping. He had it slung over his back and it bit right through the gunny sack. This was just a little guy but it coulda put some hurt on me if he got a finger.
Terrierman Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 That was kind of you. It bugs the hell out of me whenever I see a snapper run over in the road. Some people have no respect for the world they live in.
Clayton Will Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Dad always told me if I was going to kill something I had to eat it. Always lived by that rule.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Snapper is mighty fine table fair, my grams would have beat me or any of the boys if she heard we let one go lol. I sure miss her turtle soup. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Haha Great video. I caught a a turtle on a spook the other day. He just came up and sucked it under. It wasn't a snapper but man they got some claws on them. I got him unhooked some how even though I forgot to being pliers with me

Terrierman Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I've cleaned two snappers and a whistle pig in the last two weeks. Talk about some some good eats! Groundhogs are the hardest things to skin that I've ever skinned. Except for snapping turtles. Never figured out how to do a groundhog that wasn't tough. Maybe a pressure cooker?

Never figured out how to do a groundhog that wasn't tough. Maybe a pressure cooker? Really? I found them to be about as easy as a rabbit. Maybe a little tougher but not much. But like you say, turtles and squirrels are as tough as they come! If you don't have the proper set up, turtles are a two man job!! This pig I cleaned, I am going to fry. It was a youngster so I hope it is not too tough.
