Here's a tip on landing big bass, you can take it for what it's worth, but....

Bass over 4# never do anything "suddenly", if you pay attention to their body you'll notice that they tense up for a second or three before giving a thrash or a boatside jump.

So slide him/her in, keep a steady tight line, watch their body and wait for them to relax (you can actually see the fins and muscles go limp....Then grab that lip and hoist him up in one smooth continous motion.

If you grab while the fish is still tensed up they'll try to shake your arm off everytime.

I learned to watch for that myself. You can just see them fixing to thrash their head from side to side.

Another fun thing to do when fishing from a canoe. When you let them go, slip them into the water tail first, straight up and down. Leave just the head out and let go easily. They will float there for second with their head out and then explode back up out of the water trying to shake loose. Not knowing they are already free. You can get just about everyone of them to do this. Some will even get so far out they tail walk. Try it next time you"re out.

We're you back in all the Lilly's? I was down there too. Me an a buddy were in a lil flat bottom. I ended up with 3 on the frog . Two were over 15 ad one 14 and a couple shorties on a little crank. I did go buy a little bit smaller of a frog and I had 4 fish hit and I got 3 to the boat. Def better hook up with the smaller one

that senko set up is now my go to when the top water action dies off. I perfer the top water stuff though. love them big strikes.

The top water action should be ramping up in a few weeks, once the water temp comes up. Killed them last year once the temp came up and the grass and lillies matured.

Went out Monday after work and the topwater action was good once the sun went down. The senko rig again was a hit with the bass. Cant search for the dreaded bass Dr. Evil until friday
