I personally have to protest... I had to leave early to do a TV interview for a Dallas News station... I thought I relayed to the crew I threw 74' 6" and I had a witness! Doesn't pay to leave a Doty in charge!

Thanks everyone for helping... Brian Shaffer, Duane and Mona Cheri Doty and Darin.

MC said she looked for your sign up sheet and couldn't find it. LOL!

Had a great time. It was a fun event with great prizes. Watching those kids get to fish in the hatchery was entertaining too. You would have thought a NASCAR race or football game was going on with all the cheering.

I thought it was blast ! Some of the kids had never caught a trout - much less a 4lb 3oz brown trout one kid caught for his first trout ever!

The casting was extra fun. Watching a relatively new caster really understanding the principals of the fly cast - its like the light goes ON and they get it.... then they lose it 4 minutes later. (but with practice they learned they will become better fly casters)

Jim Green, the rod designer and owner of Fenwick, said it best in a little 80 page book entitled " Fly Casting " in 1971;

" There's no such thing as fly fisherman wholly satisfied with his casting performance. "

I think we might even have some pictures ? Yes ?

That looks like a great day for all.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Great to see the kids with smiles. Love to see events promoting our sport to the young'uns. Wish we would've been down there.

Nice fish too!!
