Jason Essary Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Ok, lot of talk about fins and the mickey Jr. I have one mickey jr. but hate the color and it has not worked well (dont ask why the color, friend deal that didnt work out). Has anyone used the standard size mickey? Probably going to get one and think it might bring bigger fish. Thoughts? Colors? thinking aurora black. skeeter Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Hey neighbor...do you mean the Mikey ?? Just wondering 'cause I am unaware of the "Mickey" ( maybe I need to put my cheaters on !) but have two of the "Mikey's" and the larger one outfishes the smaller Jr. about 20 to 1 in my experience. Big old thing but it seems to bring them up pretty good while the little one or Jr. just doesn't seem to have the necessary action, even if worked on real light line. Most times it works best for me in deep cove mouths around the Pt. 17 area where you get those long narrow and deep coves. Further back in the cove or on timbered bluffs....not so much.
Jacob W Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I like the Aurora black, but I've been fishing the chartruese shad in the jr. and having some luck with it. Funny thing about the chartruese shad color is it really doesn't look like any other lure in chartruese shad color pattern..
Bill Babler Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Remember a few years ago we had a thread on this. Again, Capt. Don House had great success with that bait. I tried it but it is pretty big and the gas and oil requirement for it is huge. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I like the looks of the "Ghost minnow" color, but $25 for a standard size is a long drink of water. Even so, I'm tempted...
dtrs5kprs Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Some of the walkers are just huge. Threw a Henrietta from catch 'em caro today, like winding a bayliner. Big mikey is about the same, like the junior a bit.
