Mitch f Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Finally. Thank you. I've always had a greater respect for guys like Duane Allman or Jimmy Hendricks who were self taught and were WAY ahead of their time. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Flysmallie Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I have too. Loved it. If you go to their shows expecting to be entertained with theatrics and light shows, stay home. They are there to play music and that is what they do. And very, very well I might add. No it wasn't that. It was just horrible sound, horribly played, horribly performed. I guess everybody has a bad night. I've been to enough concerts from different genres to know what to expect. From small 30 person local bands to 100,000+ stadium shows. Some were good, some were bad, some were horrible (Alice in Chains). But the Allman Bros had an off night. I know they are better than that.
Chief Grey Bear Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I've always had a greater respect for guys like Duane Allman or Jimmy Hendricks who were self taught and were WAY ahead of their time. Duane was a master of the slide! And Jimi Hendrix was, and still is a head of his time, and my time, and the next gens time. Agreed my friend! No it wasn't that. It was just horrible sound, horribly played, horribly performed. I guess everybody has a bad night. I've been to enough concerts from different genres to know what to expect. I know they are better than that. You know, I have never liked their studio work. But yeah, I know what you are saying. strangercreek Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Lynyrd Skynyrd put Steve Gaines live on the stage for the first time at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, just a bit of useless info (actually not useless to me)
