Missouri does do a good job on it's roads, compared to Arkansas that is. And I think that Arkansas roads are in better shape than Oklahoma's. We just had a sales tax increase here in Arkansas with the added money being directed at roads, so maybe we'll come up to Missouri standards.

Doubt it. Although- no matter which way I go out of Little Rock, there is road construction. It seems like they are always working on the roads, but the roads always suck. Then again I just started paying taxes and I am probably bitter.

I hear you on that Jason R. Part of the plan is to widen 540 to 3 lanes each way from Fayetteville to somewhere, Bella Vista maybe. Several years of construction for sure, dunno if having three lanes in each directon is worth the pain the construction will cause.

No one enjoys paying taxes, whether they be income, sales, property, luxury, excise, estate, or "sin" taxes. However, since Summerian and Egyptian times, many things that all of us want and demand are best acquired through all of us paying a share. Police, firemen, roads and bridges, national defense, meat inspection - the list is astonishingly large.

This is the very reason I find those who demand across the board cuts in taxes so amusing. Really? You wanted only one lane roads? You want half your fire put out? A bridge that only reaches mid river? An army that fights half a day? Medicine or meat that may or may not be safe? Emergency declarations for Moore, Oklahoma but not New Jersey? Give me a break.

BTW, Arkansas and Missouri taxes (of all types combined) are among the lowest in the United States, and the United States ranks low compared to most industrialized nations.

I don't want to start some pointless political debate... BUT- I think the people (like me) who are not fond of our current taxation are more concerned with non-infrastructure spending. You know- welfare, SSI/SSD, this new healthcare tax, government waste, excessive golfing etc. I'm fine with paying for police, fire, utilities and military. I respect the heck out of police, firemen and military.

That is true RPS, but I think my biggest complaint is in the number of applications. I realize that there would probably be a riot if people knew the true percentage of their contributions.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I sincerely feel sorry for some of you, the grass is pretty green on my side of the fence...

I don't own a home or land, my personal property taxes were like $90 last year.

My income's pretty modest, glad I don't make enough to have to sweat that tax burden.

No bothersome investments to be taxed on.

I eat most of the fish I catch (I throw all the bass back for those less fortunate). The tax on the single sack of store-bought vittles I buy each week isn't that bad.

My family's all dead but one, no estate tax in my future.

If everyone complaining about their taxes only had it as good as I do...

I can't dance like I used to.
