Travis Swift Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Thinking about renting a condo this winter. I wanted to know if the Fall Creek Boat ramp is useable or see if anyone has used it before?
mwfischer Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Stayed there 3 yrs or so ago, and it was blocked off/closed. Haven't seen the boulders moved each year I've stayed elsewhere, so I am still guessing closed/not usable.
Travis Swift Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 thanks for the info. guess if i bring the boat down i'll use the cooper ramp then. i've never stayed up at fall creek, thinking about renting a condo but i'm apprehensive a little bit. i've always stayed down lake at Lilleys, Trout Hollow or Lazy valley so i'm not sure what to expect. Especially the dock fishing if i don't bring the boat........
Travis Swift Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 2 more questions. has any one fished off the dock at fall creek and if so how was the fishing. The other question is, if i do rent a condo it's right on some of that rip rap and has anyone seen anyone fishing off the rip rap or can you even get down to the water? i'll be fishing a jig and float up there about 90& of the time so i was hoping the water along the rip rap would be good for that or the dock would be good for that?
perchjerker Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I stayed at Fall Creek last winter for 3 days. As long as the water flow isn't to fast, fishing an inflated night crawler with a white powerbait right above the hook was catching Rainbows and a couple of small Browns. Be aware boat traffic can be heavy in that area. As for the rocks I would go down them but had my fly rod and an ultra light. Each day they seem to want something different. The rocks aren't easy especialy at 62, but you can do it. beware the water gets deep quickly right off the rocks, and I don't know if Fall Creek managment wants you on them for liability purposes. I was down this weekend and if the rocks don't bother you they put them at the entrance of the creek also. Good Luck.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Winter is always iffy. If they're running water the ramp at the dam puts you close to the action if that's where you want to be. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
crazy4fishin Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I am not sure they would let you use the ramp even if they did I would not use the Fall Creek ramp - a couple of weeks ago they still had all of the earth movers etc. on the ramp and it was a mess. Coopers is much nicer, has a dock to tie your boat to which makes it nice. C4F Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
johndarin Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 The ramp at Fall Creek is closed they are putting big chunk rock all around it. Darin Schildknecht Pro Staff - Lilleys' Landing Resort & Marina Lake Taneycomo, Branson, Missouri
Bill Babler Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 The ramp at Fall Creek is closed they are putting big chunk rock all around it. It is also completely non-usable, since the flood. There is a huge hole just off the concrete and if your back tires slipped off you would need a wrecker to get you out. Stay away from there, it is more than dangerous. I probably would not venture down the rocks to fish. I'm pretty nimble and that is a dangerous place. Enough people get seen on there and I bet they will put up signs and direct you to the dock. Dock fishing at Fall Creek has always been good. As has been mentioned watch the boat traffic. Just can't beat that inflated crawler off the dock there, Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
