dtrs5kprs Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 A 50' power pole would be excellent for offshore fishing. Let me know when you have one of those designed. Yup. Until then they are not really useful in the White River lakes (spawn aside) unless you unbolt them and drop them over the side with 100' of good rope. Tough getting them to stick when your transom is hanging over 115' on the old channel.
exiledguide Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Sign me up when you invent one until then I usually have the trolling motor set at the slowest speed that lets me creep along
Guest Brian B. Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I use Minn Kota Enduras- never go past #2 when I'm actively fishing. The drift sock is a huge deal.. Huge. If you have never had one- you won't understand until you use it for one day.. It's not about windy days.. Its so. Much more than that. I cannot fish without it now. Allows me to fish much much more stealthy because bumping the trolling motor is drastically reduced.
Dutch Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 For me boat position is the most important key to success. I like to fish windy banks so I am mostly fishing into the wind to control the boat speed and get it into the best possible position to make good casts. There is rarely a time that I can keep a trolling motor on constantly unless I am drag fishing.
