Hey To all who fish the Mill Creek night touneys, How do you guys handle the MO No Cull rule for July and August, was just kinda wondering.

I've been watching this thread TR, and am surprised there's not more thoughts on the matter.

With the no cull rule, I'd guess when you got your limit; you're nights done?

Supposed to be...same with any other tournament in July or August. I guess you could just release small keepers without ever putting them in your box but that would be a tough decision to make.

Just wondering.... If you're just fishing and keep fish, then at end of trip decide to release, what's the difference in doing that and culling?

Why put them in the live well if you are going to release at the end of the trip. Take a picture, weigh it and release them and not harm them in a live well for 6 or 8 hrs.

Once you place the fish in the live well it is counted towards a limit and not to be released/culled. With the no cull rule you can not replace a smaller fish in your live well with a larger fish. No matter if you release all fish in your live well at the end of the day. You have to release the caught fish immediately and not cull if you have your limit. This rule is only during the hot summer months to reduce the mortality rate. Does it work??? Who knows, and is it enforced?? Who knows.

the july/aug culling rule is basically about how you interpret it. My question about night tournaments in this time of year is this. At midnight, does a new day start? Can you then have 12 fish? Do you have to mark the ones caught before midnight? Then you could weigh your best 5 out of 12? Absurd, I know, but I would think that would be the law.

GNS... I have been when I wanted to keep and eat fish. But decided on the way back to ramp I didn't want to mess with them or had to leave early from getting called in to work, etc...

Iclass,

I would assume (you know about that word) that it is/would be a judgement call on the agent in question on the culling reg. If you would happened to run into one which is a slim chance while you were releasing the fish. I haven't been checked here in MO in years. Was checked in Arkansas last fall for license and they did checked the live wells for fish and I may be check tonight at Cape Fair you never know.
