Let's hear it...Chiefs win Over/Under 8 games....I'll go first with under...and FYI, I am a TRUE Chiefs fan...GO CHIEFS! However, I will miss games on those perfect autumn afternoons to go fishing...priorities...Oh yea, why I say under is O-line, D-line, QB, and Receivers...just for fun compare Smith to Cassel...there numbers are eerily close to a fault...

I see this team as a big question mark. I definitely have concerns about Alex Smith, but I'm hoping Reid can at least make him a good "game manager" type QB. It's possible Reid can turn Jaamal Charles into the KC version of LeSean McCoy, There are some weapons on offence, just need a QB that can get the ball to them and not turn the ball over. KC's D is decent. Also have to hope Smith doesn't get hurt or stink really bad, because there's nothing backing him up.

Looking at the schedule I see 7 winnable games against the likes of the Jags, Browns, Oakland (twice). But they'll probably lose 2 of those games at least, the remaining 9 against tough opponents, maybe they'll win 2 of those - so I have them for 7 wins. If Smith gets hurt or stinks, who knows? We could be looking at another 2 win season.

Might be better for the future if they tank again next year, maybe there will be a "franchise" QB available in the 2014 draft. KC needs to get that franchise QB to build around. I hope Smith can be the guy, but I have doubts.

I see these Chiefs fans on some of the Facebook pages actually believing10 or 12 wins...could happen...I'd be thrilled with 8-8 with a few quality wins thrown in...first game against Jacksonville is going to be a surprisingly tough game...IF the Chiefs win, and it's a squeaker, it may be a long season...1-3 after the first 4 games, it's over...2-2 would be great...3-1possibly with some breaks...after that it gets tougher...Chargers are VERY overlooked this year I think, especially if Rivers gets his Mojo back...

Under... I think they'll go 6 - 10. Our #1 pick should help with protection on the right side (I hope!). Last years coaching staff had no clue when it comes to offense. Reid should change that.

I don't think you can compare QB's using stats from different teams. Different schedules, lines, receivers, etc. No one was a bigger critic of Cassel than me, he had bad written all over him when he arrived. When QB is second string in college you can't expect much, he either beats out the starter or transfers and starts. What Cassel seriously lacked, accuracy on crossing routes, I hope Smith has.

I don't like to speculate on their chances, not with a new coach and a new QB. They have a better defense than what the offense allowed. I think they'll do well if the offense can keep them in games and allow the defense to play a normal game. The offense is close if the line comes through along with Smith and the receivers. It will be interesting to see how the new coach approaches the LSU defensive linemen. They haven't played to their draft potential.

I've followed them from the time they stepped off the plane from Dallas at the downtown airport and Holub said how happy they were to be in KC and after Stram and Dawson left it's been "next year" every since. :(

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I'll go with 8-8 or right at .500. I think that is pushing it though.

Looks like a 5 win season to me, but some good draft picks will help 3 years from now.

I like that Justin! LOL! (Kurt Warner part 2)

The Chiefs have a real coach now, if he can do what he wants to do, in the next 2 or 3 years they will be legitimate again.

The Chiefs will be a lot better, I think. But going from 2 wins to 8 is just to much to ask in my opinion. Andy Reid is an excellent coach though. Alex Smith is very solid but not the kind of elite quarterback that has carried a team. The defense and O-line was just always such a huge help to him in San Fran.

I'll go 7 wins, and either 2nd or 3rd in the West. I think they are pretty clearly ahead of the Raiders and neck and neck with the Chargers. If everything goes right they could be in the playoff chase, but I don't see it this year.

Another reality, is at some point they'll have to find a long-term answer at QB. Not this year, or maybe even next. Smith is a good option for now. He can win games and maybe even get the Chiefs to the playoffs in a year or two. But to really be a contender (unless they can get their surrounding talent up to a San Fran or Baltimore level) they may well need someone more dynamic for Andy Reid's system. Like a Collin Kaepernick or Russell Wilson if they can find someone similar to that in the draft.

I look forward to a couple of hopefully fun games against a much more competitive Chiefs team this year (Broncos fan here.....)
