ScottK Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Picked this Pescador 12 up last week. I have an older Pungo, but wanted to get a SOT for storage and easier entry/exit during the warm water months. I read lots and lots of reviews and decided on this one and am very pleased so far, only had it out twice for short upriver and back down a mile or so quick fishing jaunts. Looks like it may be a bit before I can get out again with all the rain, river's coming up again....
blue79 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Awesome!!.im wanting to get one like that.I do alot of wading in the winter looking for arrowheads and i have two (sit inside)kayaks of my buddies i was gonna use but i was afraid of falling out when i try to get out while im wearing waders.Ive had ice cold water come over the top of my waders before and it sucks.I want one like yours so i could just throw my legs over the side and get out.
ScottK Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Yeah, it's most definitely easier to get into and out of. In the winter though you'd for sure want to have waders on, it's a wetter ride than a sit in. They make a camo colored version that I wanted, but I waited too long to go get it and they were out of everything but nuclear yellow...
Old plug Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I have been watching these kayak post on here.I bet i would really like something like that. But at my age and with the level my arthritis is I coud not get in one much less get out at the end of a float.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I don't know about the arthritis, but tge sot's are essy in and out. Getting them in and out of the water is another thing though. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Ham Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think that is the same as the old Taron design that I have. Great boat. enjoy it! Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
ScottK Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Yep, it's the 2008(I believe that's the right year) WS Tarpon 120. Perception started using the mold when WS changed the design a bit, the parent company of both is Confluence Watersports so it's the same exact hull but doesn't have the "Phase 3" seat. Still pretty comfy though, Perception calls it Comfort Seating System. It's gonna have to sit on the sawhorses till next weekend I guess, Spring River's out of the banks.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 The old Tarpon is a good one. I thi k Ham and I got ours 8 or 9 years ago and they still going. The nice thing about the SOT's is that you can throw your legs over the side and reach anything behind you. The down side is thier weight. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members hambandit Posted August 4, 2013 Members Posted August 4, 2013 Hey I've got one of those too. Nice boats. The seat sucks though, I upgraded mine.
ScottK Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 It is definitely heavier than the sit in, but so far manageable. That may change when I go somewhere I have to carry it more than 20 or 30 feet though! Probably will get a seat pad for the bottom, the backrest works pretty good for me.
