mic Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm taking a road trip to KC tomorrow from STL. I'm thinking about taking Hwy 50 versus I70 and see something besides billboards and straight lines. Probably turn north at Ottersville after checking out Richland creek in the conservation area there. Anything worth stopping and seeing. Anyone ever tried Richland (send me a PM if you rather). Tight Lines, MIC
mic Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Anybody been in the converstation office building in Jeff City. Wonder if they have anything worth looking at.
Old plug Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I been to the conservation building in Jeff City but that was a longtime ago in spite of the fact that I go to and through there at least 1 time a month on my way to st louis to see grandkids or to visit my daughter in Hermann. Look it up on the internet and there should be something. They got a 800 number you could call also I imagine.
oneshot Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Lived and worked on 50HWY for years.Killed my first Turkey at Otterville, good fishing in the Lamine river.Catfish,Crappie,Bass.Its a nice drive. oneshot
Jack Jones Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I was at the Runge conservation area/nature center in Jeff City about 3 months ago. I didn't get to hike the trails then for two reasons: (1) it was snowing, and (2) I was dressed for work in a suit/tie. The building itself was very nice. Lots of taxidermy. There's a nature library there. I'd give it an hour of my time.. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
rainbow Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 The Nic Nac cafe in California is good. Its on old hwy 50 in town. If you go thru Sedalia you should stop at Goody's at Hwy 50 and 65. On the east side of 65 about 100 yds south of 50. great burgers and shakes. Also the Dutch bakery in Tiption. http://opulentopossum.blogspot.com/2010/07/dutch-bakery-and-bulk-foods-tipton.html. We always take Hwy 50 from Sedalia to where we live in Warren county.
Terrierman Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 If you're in Jefferson City around lunchtime, I'd go to Zesto. It's on Jefferson Street which is basically the North outer road of Hwy 54 close to the Ellis Boulevard exit. Order a polish sausage with sauerkraut, swiss cheese and hot mustard with a side of baked beans. You can thank me later.
mic Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Thanks all. I've never had a year like this where life keeps getting in the way. Didn't get to fish and took i70. Best I got was stopping a bass pro in Columbia.
drew03cmc Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I love the drive across 50. I m considering driving to Richland as well, but may just head down 13 and see what I can find...Mic, holler when you will be back this way. Andy
