Wayne SW/MO Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Can anyone recommend Berkley Fireline? No, in rethinking your question after more information, it isn't clear. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
RSBreth Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I still use original Fireline - the main thing about it that you have to have a little 'break in" time with it - cast and reel a couple of dozen time times and it starts to be better than brand new. One great thing about the fused lines like Fireline and NanoFil is that they don't pick up as much water to freeze up your reel in winter. Another thing is I use braid for most superline duties, but when the ultimate casting distance is required it's fused lines all the way.
Ham Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 It's still early in the game, but I'm really liking Nanofil. It may replace all my <20 lb braid. I'll use up what have first which fill take a few years. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
West Fork Jason Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I had a client that is a starting out fly angler, and wanted to use his own spinning rod after fly fishing the first half of the day. He had some Nanofil on a medium duty spin rod, it seemed like really nice line. I'm sticking with my Power Pro on all my big bait casting musky rods though. (80-100 lb. test) Cheers! http://www.WestForkJason.com
Ham Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Hey WFJ, I may have some freebie stuff you can use. Hopefully, I'll see you when you make the pilgramidge. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Terrierman Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I was impressed with the increased casting distance that Nanofil gave this last Saturday. Impressed enough that I'll spool a couple of spinning rods with it. Did notice a bit of difference in sensitivity/hook set but not "revolutionary". But adding maybe 10 to 15% casting distance? That can be a big deal at times.
Ham Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Nanofil is a LOT more sensitive than mono, but not any better than braid. 1) Nanofil throws Great. 2) No noise in the guides 3) more sensitive 4) great hooksets from any distance 5) a very thin line that is very abrasion resistant 6) lower pound test lets you break it IF you need to do so. Oddly enough, I do not have it spooled on a crappie rod yet. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
