fishinwrench Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Yeah that's the issue I was having in a few spots above LM before the flood. Haven't been on it yet since, and I figured there would be some serious wood relocation issues. I tried poling the jon back down and that was a disaster. Some of those strainers are plenty strong enough to eat a 16' jon boat and they can be difficult to avoid. I'm surprised more folks don't get into serious trouble down there.
Goggle-Eyed Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 ME TOO. I have big ones in the jet but they shrivel up when I am in the paddle jon, LOL. I usually walk about 3-4 riffles between Prosperine and Upper Lead Mine. I have even walked the jet a few times going back down.
fishinwrench Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 You ever eat that Gawd-awful thorn tree sticking out of the high mud bank just above LM on the way back down ? It looks like a mimosa....but it ain't. It's a meat shredder.
Goggle-Eyed Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I have, and it actually ate one of my higher end rods a couple of years ago. I was too busy ducking and diving to notice one of the branches grabbed the rod before I could react I heard the "snap"...
