I read something this morning that's really disgusting - about how the National Park Service is playing the "shutdown".

Most of us have probably been to Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota, I have. You'll recall that it's a big, carved MOUNTAIN and there's a parking lot with a good view, some buildings by the lot, and a trail for those who want to hike closer to the carvings. Years ago we had kids along and we just looked from the view points at the parking lot - I don't even remember whether we went in the building.

So - that parking lot and the park buildings have been closed now by the rangers, of course. But, get this - they've closed all the pull-off spots along the highway for miles around so people can't stop and look at the mountain or take pictures from a distance! Ain't that something? They oughta fire every dam' "public servant" who's involved in that deal, and make sure they don't get a pension, too.

So far as going around barriers to launch on Tablerock, I'm going about Wednesday and I guess I'll get launched some way. The trouble with that deal is that you've got to leave your truck and trailer parked while out fishing. What if you come back in and your rig has been towed? They're playing dirty enough to do that.

Launched out of cape fair yesterday morning and what was said above was true. They have made their own ramp and it is up for use. The corp has not put anything in front of either of their ramps so they are still accessible and a few people were using them. If you choose to use the corp ramps I was told you can get a ticket but heard nobody has gotten one just yet.

I've wondered about the parking situation also. I know there isn't a lot of parking at Cricket Creek for instance, or Long Creek if it's open and with people being squeezed into fewer ramps the weekends would questionable I would think. Has anyone ran into overcrowding at the public ramps that are open?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Not on Beaver this weekend, but I would suspect the cold played a part in that, Its the time when most people are starting to winterize the boats so this shutdown shouldn't affect Beaver that much, now if it was true summer it would be a major issue.

Here is the reply I received from Senator McCaskill on the email I sent last week about the corp closing the launching ramps:

"In the absence of FY 2014 appropriations or a continuing budget resolution for the Legislative Branch, Senator McCaskill's office has been forced to close effective October 1, 2013. The office will reopen when a continuing budget resolution is approved. Senator McCaskill is disappointed with the shutdown of government operations and the inconvenience to Missourians and will continue to work to fund the government as quickly as possible."

She needs to be recalled and replaced with someone who will work for the people and want to address their problems and not follow the democrats around like a puppy dog. Her closing her office and not wanting to communicate with We the People.

Sorry Phil just had to pass this along.....

We fished the tournament at Capr Fair Sunday, several rigs parked on the ramp, we were told the Ranger drove by and looked at the rigs to see if they had corp passes, he did not stop, didn't give any tickets out that I know of. There were 11 boats of us that fished. We used the ramp but parked the truck in the dock parking lot. If you have a yearly pass I don't see any way they can give you a ticket. There was no sign, no baracade no nothing saying the ramp was closed.

She should have been recalled when she was caught stealing from the state, but people are ignorant.

The house has acted several times and ways, it's the democrats in the senate that are refusing to act in a way and manner to negotiate a settlement in this manner. They want their cake and eat to and we have ate a big 17 trillion hole. It's got to stop........Also you have to contact the Reps that you live in their district.

I don't think any person who favors the Democratic party would stand for giving a republican controlled administration a credit card with an unlimited ceiling. There's no difference in the Democrats having one. You may agree with their governing philosophy, but surely no one wants any government entity to have a blank check, Tea Party or no Tea Party?

Voters need to learn to separate governing from fiscal responsibility and hold both parties more accountable.
