Greasy B Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Al's Five: Meramec River above Blue Spings, Vilander Bluff. Huzzah. Jacks Fork, Chalk Bluff. Lower Current River. Mineral Fork. This is tougher than I thought it would be. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

This is tougher than I thought it would be. 1. Meramec is correct, and it IS above Blue Springs Creek...but not Vilander Bluff. "Above Blue Springs" could cover a lot of territory. It's very close to an access, though...can you name the access and whether it's upstream or downstream of it? 2. Nope. 3. Absolutely correct! 4. Current River, but I wouldn't call it "lower"...and that big chunk of rocks has a name, or at least it's a part of a chunk of rocks that has a name. 5. Correct! And I thought that would be the toughest one...can anybody guess where on the Mineral Fork?

You almost have to have a view of the river-scape or land features. Water volume and color are too variable. Guest Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mine was the NFOW, just upstream of rainbow spring.
Al Agnew Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Nope, not Courtois, either. Hint...there are no canoe rentals regularly serving this stretch of river.
hank franklin Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I would say Al's #2 is possibly the North Fork, though the gravel doesn't look right. The bluff and bend look familiar but I don't really recall that tall stripped tree. Stumped....
ColdWaterFshr Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Good pick, Hank. I don't think the outfitters serve the upper North Fork above twin bridges, do they?
