Members charliehorsejigs Posted October 5, 2013 Members Posted October 5, 2013 Ruark Bluff parking areas are the least secure places to park your vehicles on Stockton. There have been a lot of thefts there the last few years and it's not only gas. Last year their were several people missing their catalytic converters when they retuned from fishing. They were stolen in broad daylight! You would think that someone would have noticed some thing going on. I just hope they get caught by law enforcement and not someone that has a concealed carry permit. Things could really ugly, really fast, especially if it was me or my son that they were trying to steal from. Does the term CITIZEN'S ARREST come to mind?
dennis boatman Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I agree that the employees who put up the signs are are just like us. Where my opinion may differ with some is, don't put these people in a situation where there job is jeopardized by having to make a decision to ticket or have towed, someone who goes around barracades. Use another, non barricaded launch site. Everybody i know is still unloading lost. everybody should remember that the people who put these blocks and signs up mostly are just like all of us and fish stockton as we do. i don't think they're out to get us or tow our truck or fine us. we are just there to fish and unload on ramps we pay for. my dad unloaded at cedar ridge Wednesday and had no problems A strike indicator is just a bobber...
fishinwrench Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Dennis, what exacty would the ticket be "for"? Most likely they were directed to baracade the access(s), but were not specifically ordered to stand guard and ensure that nobody uses the boat ramps. This is a game (get it?). Everyone is just playing along, nobody is disrespecting anyones job. Surely you don't live in a literal world..... Yo, snap that seatbelt or run right up to the PD and turn yourself in, pronto. How dare you disrespect that officer by driving without it on.
straw hat Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I don't know if anyone has noticed the Corp Home page for Stockton Lake but in regards to the shut down it says... "Affected areas will remain closed until after the shutdown is lifted. This includes all of our visitor facilities, campgrounds, boat ramps and similar facilities at all 18 of our lake projects." Just FYI
fishinwrench Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Straw, The gas station down the road from me "closes" at 10:30pm, I can still pull in at midnight and wash my windshield or sit out a hailstorm, just can't get gas and a cold soda. Nobody minds cuz we all spend money there regularly, and it's not bothering anything.
Guest Brian B. Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Man I hate to hear abouth the stolen fuel. Get a locking gas cap- but tie wrap the second of the two keys that come with it under the vehicle or secure it in a magnet key box etc... (Yep... I have run waaay away from home. With the wrong set of keys only to realize it at the distant gas station... Somone stealing your gas is better than that situation)
Thompson Fishing Guide Service Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 That was one of my favorite Andy episodes "CITIZEN'S ARREST!" Course the ccw wouldn't be an arrest exactly... All marina boat ramps are open cause they lease them. So if you are concerned about being legal, that's where you should put in: Mutton Creek, State Park, Orleans Trail. MSWP says you are trespassing if you go into corps ramps. When we inquired about the marinas because they are leased, they didn't know. The very nice officer there did say that was an interesting question. Sheriff of Dade county did not return my call reference the same. Dade county 911 says as far as they know, everything is open. All of the news that is fit to print. Marty Thompson Thompson Fishing Guide Service www.fishstockton.com 417-424-BASS Often imitated, never duplicated. Fish the Finest!
