Hmmm, never had a WWart that didn't run correctly. But this is exactly the reason I stopped purchasing Rogues years ago. Couldn't fix them by any means I knew. Maybe I'm missing out and maybe that issue has been corrected, but once an angler has multiple issue with a bait, it surely takes a long time for them to reconsider purchasing that bait again.

Another little trick I learned from the folks @ REBEL LURES to try on the ones that you just can't get right after aligning the line tie & don't forget the hook hangers is, use a very sharp knife ( RAZOR KNIFE WORKS WELL ) to " SHAVE THE UPPER LIP EDGE " !!!!!!! Be careful & take it slow, don't take to much material just lightly shave "THE ENTIRE UPPER EDGE " front to back. Same as you would bend the line tie, runs to the right, shave the left edge, runs to the left shave the right edge. Over the years I have found " VERY FEW " that could not be tuned using this method after all else failed. If this method won't do it, remove the hooks, add a large endless ring to the line tie & give it to a buddy as an XMASS gift. Again " SLOW & EASY " should do the trick. Take a few strokes with the knife & test it, repeat till you got it. If you go to far just shave the other side of the lip. One final tip, " DO NOT " hold the knife blade flat against the bill, hold the lure level & the knife blade on an angle so you " CHAMPFER THE UPPER EDGE " of the bill.

I would like to see that method first hand.

Could you shoot a short video clip, or series of photos?

I could use your expertise on this matter.

Thanks

Can't make you any promises other than I will try. As I am not very educated @ videos I may be able to get a friend or 2 to help me. If I can figure it out I will do it.

I tried using warts because all of the talk about them. On 2 separate occasions I purchased warts and both times the warts would swim sideways on the retrieve. I guess it was just bad luck, but reluctant to purchase another because of my experiences with what I call a poorly made product.

In reply to your post on the warts ..I have over 60 pre rapala warts and i was looking for some of my rough ones to have painted, needless to say before i spent $ to have them painted i wanted to test run them to make sure they "hunt" correctly aka track side to side but overall an even side to side track.. So i took a dozen or so to the lake and i had a couple that ran off to one side and after a closer look i could see that the tying ring was bent or on an angle...so i started bending the wire loop that the split ring goes on in the opposite direction. If it runs to the right bend it to the left just 1-2 degrees at a time and cast and retrive and "TUNE" your cranks not just warts but any crank will sometimes get out of tune. I have never seen one that couldn't be tuned to run like new or better tho. Key is bend very little at a time and repeat until it "hunts" straight back to the boat. BTW warts work better at a slow retreve most of the time..5:4-1 gears or so . Give them a try when the water gets below 60 degrees and hold on. Good luck and tune tune tune. Words of the day: you can tune a piano but you can't tune a fish...<*((((=<

Occasionally, the rattle will get stuck causing it to be out of alignment.

This will cause them to roll up immediately.

You can beat it against the side of the boat and see if that loosens the rattle.

Otherwise its junk
